If you become ill or injured while on your trip, medical evacuation coverage will transport you to the nearest hospital. Some policies also arrange transportation back home with the help of a medical escort if your condition requires it.
Getting you home safely, especially from a cruise or an out-of-the-way location, can be expensive.

Watch Out For Cover Restrictions
Not only will your travel insurance be more expensive as you pass 65, but you may not get the same level of cover as when you were younger.
Some insurers start to restrict the cover they will offer travellers over 65, this can include:

- Restricting the locations youll be covered for
- Reducing the medical cover limits
Always check the policy documents before you take out your cover so you know exactly what youre paying for.

Why Can It Be Tricky
Some standard travel insurance policies only cover you up to 65 years old. As you reach your 70s and 80s finding cover tends to get even harder.
This is because as we get older were more likely to need expensive medical care while were on holiday, so some insurers dont want to take on the extra risk.
Single trip cover tends to have higher age limits than annual travel insurance policies.
While the choice may be more limited, the good news is you can still get travel insurance over 65 – in fact some insurers dont set an age limit at all.

Tips For Buying Travel Insurance Over 75
Whether youre a cruiser or an RVer, a museumgoer or a fine-dining fan, you know that the freedom to travel is the best thing about retirement. As you get older, you learn to appreciate the joys of travel even more, but you may notice one downside: Travel insurance costs keep going up.
Why is travel insurance more expensive for over-75 travelers? As with any other kind of insurance, the price is calculated based on risk. Because older travelers, as a group, are at a higher risk of health problems, the cost of travel insurance rises with age. You might be surprised by the quoted cost when youre trying to insure an upcoming trip, especially if you and your spouse or travel companion are over 75.
It is possible to find affordable travel insurance for seniors over 70 or 80, however! Well explain the best way to get a deal. If youve got a trip coming up and you want to see all your options, start by getting a quote.
